I am finally a mommy!

I am finally a mommy!!! We got the call for our agency and it has been a whirlwind ever since! It is exhausting but so rewarding! I can now look back over the past year with adoption and see that THIS is the child that God had planned for us! Abby Elizabeth was born on April 27 and joined our family Monday June 22!

I must admit that I am worried about the effects of lack of sleep on my fibromyalgia. Last night we got 6 hours of sleep (from 4am to 10am) which are not exactly my hours but I will take it over the night before! When I'm not getting sleep my hips and lower back KILL me so I am really hoping that I can fend off a flare. John & I have been tag-teaming so that has been helpful (he took first shift last night so I could get an hour or two of sleep before I took over). If posts are scattered the next week or so, please understand but I think this will had a whole new dimension to my "new normal" :)

My "Real Age"

After reading an article in Health magazine, I was interested in checking out the website http://www.realage.com/.  In answering all of the questions, I was just waiting on the results to show that my real age was 82.  But I was pleasantly surprised that my "real age" is actually 6 months younger than my calendar age!  It is actually pretty interesting survery.  It covers all areas including Health, Habits, Relationships, Diet, and Fitness which each play a role in determining your "real age."  Once your survey is complete, you are emailed the results as well as a plan to help you feel younger and healthier.  In my case, my weight made my age older as I've got some pounds to shed (nice little reminder, huh?).  Another thing that added to my age was that I need to "hang up and drive" since I use my cell phone while driving.  It also advises me to learn more about ovarian cancer.  Too bad there wasn't a slot to answer that I no longer have ovaries.  Maybe I could have lost another few months!  Some of the things that made me younger were being a non-smoker, buckling up everytime I'm in the car, making the time to hug my dogs, and eating breakfast.  I recommend checking the site out.  It gave me a boost in  my body image.  Maybe I'm not so old afterall!

It may be a long summer

The humidity is killing me already!  My joints have just throbbed this week and my hips feel like I just gave birth (not that I have any type of experience with such a thing but it seems like a good analogy since they hurt..alot).  And the summer is just beginning!  Arizona is looking more and more tempting!

Very Helpful Tool!

While I was browsing my ChronicBabe Goodie Bag the other week, I came across the BlueHealer Diary.  Of course I was very intrigued so I had to try it out!  It came in quickly after ordering and I have to agree that this is a VERY helpful tool!  I think that it will make visits with my rheumotologist very easy as I will be able to show a daily calendar mapping out my pain levels.  There is a section of body maps where you can document where you pain is on any given day.  The calendar section has slots for daily to-do's with sections for work, home, and kids as well as slots for daily meals, exercise, pain levels, and notes.  There are also places to list medications, recent tests/screening plus results, and health history.  If you are looking to become a little more organized and not carry around five different calendars or journals of sorts, I highly recommend that you check this out!  Also, if you don't currently subscribe to ChronicBabe I would do that too while you are at it!  Very helpful newsletters!
